I just did thirty takes of this Vlog. Each time I was interrupted. The irony, which I only realised on take thirty-one, is that the topic for this week is that every moment can be perfect if you embrace it…
Last night and this morning I took care of my father, who has Alzheimers. He requires constant supervision and management.
One of the most endearing qualities about Dad in his current state is that he pauses every few minutes and says something like:
Isn’t this wonderful?
Or
Look at the sky!
Or
Isn’t this a perfect moment?
He and I stood in a dingy carpark next to a hospital for ten minutes looking at the dusk reflections on a steel building.
There is learning in this.
Dad has little Past left. And he certainly isn’t aware of where he is going. However, he is somehow acutely focused on the Present and regularly experiences wonder, gratitude and humility.
As do we through his eyes.
Have a great week everybody.
